For sale is an elegant and cleverly designed ebonised bobbin-turned frame adjustable wig /tie/cravat or hat rack from the Victorian period 1850-1890.

- Wall mounted, flexible and adjustable as shown in the series of photographs. This hat rack is a great example of Victorian design, both stylish and also folds flat against the wall providing a great aesthetic look in ebonised black wood with turned and knopped bobbin design.
- It has six hat mounts or pegs, all of which turn out from the wall mounted frame, two larger swing arms and four smaller peg style hooks.
- The frame and hat mounts all have some lovely wear from use as shown in the photographs, revealing the underlying wood coloured patina. This in particular shows on the hat stands and pegs.

- Thought to be a travelling rack and with potential to fit in a trunk or suitcase when flat.

Ebonised wood, including during the Aesthetic Movement, was popular in the construction of furniture in the mid-nineteenth century. There was also popular use of bobbin turning in furniture making and in this case multiple bobbin turning showcased the wood turning skills of the makers in this era. This is a highly decorative wall mounted hat tree and is attractive both with and without hats or caps as shown.

In good condition after use over the last 150 years.
