For sale is a naturalistic whiplashed Art Nouveau 9ct Gold, Turquoise and Pearl drop brooch by renowned maker Barnet Henry Joseph (supplier to Liberty & Co).
- A beautiful jewel of a classic Art Nouveau aesthetic, with whiplash gold weaving in and out like so many designs during this period in Europe ranging from Celtic motifs to naturalistic floral decoration.
- The brooch is set centrally with a beautiful green cabochon of green Turquoise.
- At the bottom of the brooch is a teardrop real pearl, suspended freely.
- Stamped BHJ for Barnet Henry Joseph and 9ct.
Barnet Henry Joseph (B.H. Joseph & Co, 1865-1929). BHJ were jewellers commencing production of wholesale jewels in 1865 in Birmingham (as shown from the picture of a period advert, courtesy of Graces Guide for reference). From 1878 B.H. Joseph & Co opened showrooms in London and was said to be one of the largest jewellery houses in the trade including the supply to Liberty & Co along with others such as Murrle Bennett & Co.
