For sale is a striking Art Nouveau stylised design vase by Bretby.

- Made by Bretby, the Staffordshire pottery.
- The design makes the vase deliberately look like metalware, in this instance bronze/copper and pitted effect.
- The base is stamped: 'Clanta' the Bretby brand name, and 'Made in England' (used between 1914-1920), 2411F, with the Bretby Sunrise stamp.
- Double handled design with dark pitted, bronzed and copper effect glazed finish over a dark colouring.
- The vase has no chips, cracks or marks.

Bretby Art Pottery (and later Clanta and Clantaware) was an art pottery studio founded by Henry Tooth and William Ault in 1882. Tooth and Ault designed and built their own pottery in Woodville Derbyshire where production began on 25 October 1883. Clanta has been noted to appear from circa 1914 - 1920.
