- This lovely walnut writing / stationary box from the late 19th Century (1860-1900) in an Arts & Crafts period style has been hand chip carved and decorated throughout on all five visible surfaces.
- Geometric, circular chip patterns akin to ecclesiastical stained glass windows and geometric borders decorate this walnut constructed box to sit on a table, sideboard or desk.
- The box is a later revival example of chip carved writing / lace boxes from the 17th and 18th Century from regions such as Wales and Cornwall.
- The lid opens on two brass hinges, the lid and base extend beyond the frame of the box.
This is a well carved and highly decorative writing box, with a rich patina and in good condition at circa 140 years of age.
