For sale is a wonderful and charismatic Oak and Pine Candle Box with well carved Scottish Thistle and Owl decorative motifs.

- A beautiful early 19th Century candle box probably ecclesiastical in provenance with a lovely patina throughout, in particular the decorated front angled panel, thought to be two stylised owls in a heart shape to signify seeing in the dark linked by a pair of Scottish Thistles for the beneficial use of the candles.
- Wall pocket hanging panel with scrollwork and central hole to the top section.
- Estimated from the first quarter of the 19th Century pre-1830, potentially earlier.
- Robustedly constructed with pine rear, side and base sections to the candle box/pocket, Oak front and top section and no woodworm in good used condition with some wonderful wear and age-related marks as shown by the photographs. Ready for use as a useful and beautiful decorative item.
