For sale is a beautiful shade of original greenish/dark blue paint applied throughout to a large table box (bible/alms box) with simple naive rosmålning white floral wreath to the lid sitting on unusual and robust bracket feet to each corner.
- Marked to the front panel with the owners initials J.J.D. 1852.
- Green-dark blue background original paint behind the rosmålning decoration and monogram either side of the ironwork lock escutcheon. The paint has developed a very decorative shade of green-blue throughout its c.170 years.
- The edge of the lid and the base of the box have an attractive bevelled decoration to them with age-related wear / patina shown in the worn paint.
- The unusual and substantial decorative corner block feet are shown in the photographs.
- The box retains its original strapwork hinges which extend to the base as shown.
A beautifully decorative item in original paint ready to use. The good size allows it to sit on a table or side-board to be used as attractive floor storage.
