For sale is a beautiful antique Scottish vernacular Orkney staved bicker or cog vessel
- Constructed of staved oak wooden sections (14 staved sections), with brass metal bands and two lovely extended and shaped knopped handles
- Cog or coggies were vessels and also some had a ceremonial function and two handled cogs in particular from Orkney or the Northern Islands were often used at weddings and harvest gatherings. They are also similar to other Scandinavian treen items in their construction and design from Nordic countries.
