Late Victorian Scottish vernacular Francis East & Co. Windsor side chair c.1890-1910.

A unique, original, registered and beautifully designed lowland joined side chair from Dundee, Scotland.
- Likely to be constructed from imported American birch used in Scotland for chair manufacture in the 19th Century.
- Manufactured by Francis East & Co. of Dundee, as a Windsor side chair with a unique design to the East family (Francis East & Co. from c.1876 and East Brothers, pattern 375 from 1895).
- The chair combines three-ring turned legs and a contoured scalloped seat including a serpentine front.
- The back has decoratively reeded uprights and top rail.  The back spindles are beautifully simulated bamboo in design with a touch of regency faux chinoiserie.

A beautiful, aesthetically pleasing, vernacular side chair from Dundee, solid as a rock after circa 125 years and ready for further decorative utility.
