For sale from W&W Antiques is a beautifully decorative Scottish Victorian hand painted and decorated 'Folk Art' reversible Tavern games board c.1875-1900.
- This lovely time-worn games board (for drauhgts or chess) from a coaching inn or tavern is hand painted with lovely decorative scroll elements etc to a border panel with a floral motif in each corner (potentially a four leaf clover for luck).
- The board appears to be a softwood that has been hand painted in a black and a lovely deep red background, providing a lovely patina'd colour and wear.
- The board has an raised edged strip which is complete all the way around and perfect to one side with some sections split or missing to the reverse as shown in the images. This has no effect on its utility or structure and we suspect from falling off a wall ot being dropped. One corner has a hole through it which would have been for hanging / storage on a wall as used for the string loop for the images.
This is a lovely antique item ready to be used as a games board, decorative item for a table or wall hung.
We really love this antique, ready for a new home.
