For sale is a beautiful Scottish School Arts & Crafts brass pen / card / desk tray attributed to Margaret Gilmour.

- The brass desk tray has a lovely symmetrical repoussé pattern worked into the base of the tray and is in the Scottish / Glasgow school style associated in particular with Margaret Gilmour (1860-1942) and her peers at 179 West George Street, Glasgow (ref: page 65, Hand, Heart & Soul: The Arts & Crafts Movement in Scotland by Elizabeth Cumming, 2006)
- The pattern is a Celtic knot-work inter-locking style used in the Scottish Arts & Crafts Movement, and is raised from hand beaten craft metalwork to the rear. The background is indented stippling to further showcase the Celtic pattern.
- The corners of the desk tray are pinched and the edge of the tray is folded over, making the pleasing eared or lobed corners to the tray.
- There is no makers mark to the front or rear as far as we can discern, but the style is clear and prominent in this era. W&W have other Scottish Arts & Crafts metalwork items for sale of which we are great fans.

A lovely item for any desk, sideboard or shelf as a stylish location for your keys!
*The book and lettering is not included in the sale, it is purely for display/context and scale.
