Returns & Refunds Policy
1. Overview
We want you to be confident when purchasing antiques from W&W Antiques. Every item we sell is unique, often with age‑related wear that forms part of its character. This policy explains when returns are acceptable, how to request one, and what to expect.
2. Condition of Antiques
All items are sold as described and as seen. We provide detailed and extensive high quality photographs, research and descriptions, including any notable wear, repairs, or imperfections. Because antiques are not new, signs of age are expected and are not considered faults. If you need additional photos or information before purchasing, we’re always happy to help.
3. Your Right to Cancel (Distance Selling Regulations / Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013)
If you purchase online, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving the item.
However, the law allows exemptions for goods that are:
• One‑of‑a‑kind,
• Used,
• Likely to deteriorate, or
• Where the value depends on market fluctuations.
Antiques fall into these categories. Even so, we voluntarily offer a 14‑day return window for online purchases, provided the item is returned in the same condition it was carefully protected, packaged and sent.
4. When Returns Are Accepted
We accept returns when:
• The item arrives damaged in transit.
• You notify us within 14 days of delivery that you wish to return it with valid evidence of the above (online purchases only).
5. When Returns Cannot Be Accepted
We cannot accept returns if:
• The item has been damaged, altered, or used after delivery.
• The item was clearly described and photographed, and the reason for return is simply a change of mind. We are a family run business, not Amazon, John Lewis or Next provisioning daily returns, so please bear this in mind before purchasing. We have sold a lot of antiques online over the last decade all around the world and have had very happy customers, with virtually no recourse to returns. Sending furniture and bulky antique items is also logistically complex and costly so please bear that in mind.
6. Reporting Damage or Issues
If your item arrives damaged:
• Contact us within 48 hours of proof of delivery / signature / photographs.
• Provide clear photos of the item and packaging.
• Keep all packaging until the claim is resolved.
7. Return Process
If your return is approved:
1. We will provide return instructions and the correct return address.
2. Items must be returned within 7 days of approval.
3. Items must be securely packaged and returned using a tracked, signed for and insured service.
4. The customer is responsible for ALL return shipping costs unless the item was damaged by the courier in transit.
8. Refunds
Refunds are issued once the item has been received and inspected.
• Refunds are made to the original payment method.
• If W&W Antiques are asked to organise Return Shipping costs then these costs are non‑refundable, the shipping costs will be debited from the purchase amount on successful received returns
• *We reserve the right to make a deduction if the item is returned in a different condition than when it was sent.
9. Exchanges
Because antiques are unique, exchanges are not possible.
