Highlighting that Art Nouveau trends elsewhere in Europe, Jugendstil from Germany were also being used in fashionable designs across the Nordics and Scandinavian countries which revolutionized and popularized modern design and crafts at the turn of the 20th century in Europe and North America. The term Jugendstil, meaning "Young Style," was derived from the magazine Die Jugend in Germany, and the style originated with naturalistic floral motifs and organically inspired lines and eventually moved toward geometric and linear designs. Jugendstil in particular, would become an important movement in Germany and Austria who were creating new visions of the modern subject of design.
