For sale a beautifully handcrafted high quality child's Arts & Crafts Oak Armchair from the early 20th century.

- A child's sized oak armchair in the renowned style of 'William Birch of High Wycombe' who designed for Liberty & Co. This chair has wonderful patination and character to the oak from use and age-related wear in particular on the elbow of the arms. It is known that Liberty & Co had a series of wooden children's armchair's for sale in the early 20th century with inlaid wooden decoration in a light oak. The craftsmanship and construction of this chair in dark oak indicates that it was from a quality retailer in the arts and crafts period of the early 20th century such as Liberty.
- The chair is robustly constructed like a full-size version and has a lovely set of curved arms, with ring-turned decoration on each of the four uprights in two places and the stretcher. Lovely tapering front legs with nice matching feet to the top of the seat back posts.
- The seat back posts finish with a decorative cap/turned knop and provide for a real arts and crafts aesthetic.
- The seat and back are upholstered with a wax style cloth imitating crocodile leather, with metal stud-work securing it in place, to the seat back and base. These have been in place for many decades (as shown from the base photographs) but could have replaced a rush seat at some point in the last century. The child's chair is in great condition for over 100 years of age and is solid and useable, or simply as a beautiful decorative item.

**The Toy race car and rug are shown only for scale and is not included in the sale price for the armchair**.
