- The attractive light green folk painted chest has a domed and hinged lid and the chest is decorated with folk art painting contrasting gold floral motifs and scrolled lines.
- The box is of pine construction with light green paint with floral and geometric repeat motifs and naturalistic patterns. Rosemåling or Kurbits is a style of Scandinavian decorative painting on wood that uses stylised flower ornamentation, scrollwork, lining and geometric elements, often in flowing patterns.

The base of the chest also has four small square cut feet. The chest has no lock mechanism present.
- A marriage chest, such as this Swedish one, is a piece of furniture traditionally used to collect items like clothing and household linen, by unmarried young women, in anticipation of married life. This lovely green chest, was therefore intended to help set-up the couple at the start of their marriage.
