For sale is a stunning Irish Arts & Crafts movement brass repoussé decorated charger from John Williams and the 'Fivemiletown Class' from 1893-1900.

- A beautiful repoussé Peacock and train alongside a fruit tree decorate the charger in exceptionally high quality art metalwork design and execution.
- This brass charger has superb intricate chase work between the raised decoration of the peacock and the fruit/train.
- The peacock train flows in the central freeze and denotes small heart shaped decoration to the tail feathers.
- The edge of the charger is repeat crimped with pie-crust style metal decoration.
- The background to the central motif has a chased stippled background from a considerable number of small punch marks.
- No makers mark or stamp, which was usual.

The Fivemiletown class was established in 1892 in the village of Fivemiletown in County Tyrone, Ireland. Later John Williams who had been one of the principal metalworkers at the Guild of Handicraft provided teaching and designs. In 1899 the Studio said of John Williams: 'In designing for pewter and for somewhat heavier applications of brass and copper, John Williams is still the tutelary genius of Fivemiletown'. Production was mainly copper and brass, and occasionally pewter.
