For sale is beautiful Swedish 'Folk Art' writing slope / box from the beginning of the 19th Century (Gustavian era), with original paint blue-black marbling and external chip-carved decoration and rosmålning.

- The lid has lovely decoration with naive chip carving decoration to a central rosette motif, edge pattern and attractive floral rosmålning.

- The box has decoration painted to the external surfaces in attractive rose painting.

- The box has 1803 carved into the lid in an attractive style and has a leather strap to restrain the lid opening.
- The box has an internal raised compartment/shelf for writing implements and ink with an attractive carved curved edge.
- The box background colour is a blue-black marbling with red rose painting.
- Age-related wear as shown in the images as expected for a box of circa 217+ years from the early 19th century.

It remains in solid working condition in original paint.  A decorative age-worn box with beautiful painting to all external panels from 19th Century, rural Sweden.
