For sale is a well built Scottish milking stool from the late 19th Century c.1880-1900.

- Simple circular dished or cheese-topped design on three legs.
- The three legs have decorative turning towards their base and the edge.  The legs and base are dark stained / ebonised.
- The seat is hand decorated pokerwork/pyrography decoration which has worn away from use on the seat base. The decoration is a Scottish thistle and a simple Scots motto which states 'Sit Yee Doun' around one edge and remains legible.
- The stool is a solid piece and weighty due to the two section dished seat base connected with wooden dowels.

Ready for another 100 years use as great stool / side table or decorative plant stand. A charming Scottish 19th Century folk art item.
