For sale is a beautiful Scottish lowland joined vernacular side chair from George Iv period c.1820-1830 in Elm and Ash.

- The side chair has a an attractive Hepplewhite influenced back design, an arched top rail encompassing a central pierced splat in the 'wheatsheaf' design, gathered a third of the way up.  The curved top rail and uprights suggest the shield shape of Hepplewhite chair back designs from 1788 onwards.
-  The rear legs and uprights are swept to the rear, the front and rear cross stretcher are raised higher than the side stretchers and are rounded to their upper surfaces
- The front legs are tapered on their inner surfaces
- The seat has been nailed over the seat frame
- The chair is completely solid with only age related wear and is ready for further decorative utility. Presented in original condition
